The Guardians of the Galaxy and Scott Adsit's Nova Corps are in a long hard battle against the Fraternity of Raptors and the Chitauri army. Groot wipes the floor with the Chitauri soldiers while Gamora takes down the Raptors left and right. Just then, a Chitauri soldier blows the horn which signals them that they will continue to fight no matter what. Scott Lang scoffs at the Chitauri that they will fight the Chitauri to the last stand but unfortunately, he gets shot down for being in the open. Scott Lang was sent flying until he lands onto the wounded Nova Corpsman on the stretcher. The Guardians of the Galaxy and the few remaining Nova Corps continue to fight even though they are getting outnumbered. Meanwhile, Richard Rider goes over to the wounded Rob Rider as Talonar, who tells him that the giant Power Stone is actually a simulation and the real Power Stone can be brought down with mind over matter. Richard watches the Fraternity of Raptors take his brother away.
Back to the battlefield, the Guardians of the Galaxy are facing dire straits as they are hopelessly outnumbered and are starting to run out of ammo. As the Guardians face what they believe to be certain death, Star-Lord tells Drax to go ahead and try playing the saxophone from his old human life one last time before they meet their maker. As he does this, the Chitari mistake it for a war horn like the one they used to signal their advance. They also comment how the Guardians' war horn sounds a lot better than theirs. Then, Richard Rider comes in and tells Star-Lord that Rob Rider's theory about the giant Power Stone is a simulation and the real Power Stone can be brought down by mind over matter. Star Lord goes to the giant Power Stone and it turns out the theory is right. Just as the Chitauri Warbringer attacks him, Star-Lord swats the alien with the Power Stone before passing the infinity stone to Drax. Thanks to the Power Stone, Drax defeats the Chitauri army and the Fraternity of Raptors with his own power of jazz. As their enemies are finally defeated, Drax passes the Power Stone to Richard Rider who in turn, helps them to get out of the planet before it explodes.

Because I love messing with people, and was thinking out some future fighting scenes featuring dragon on dragon combat, here’s some of the characters/real life animals I pulled inspiration from…

If it’s got wings, it’s probably been used for reference, even if subconsciously. Some of these are referencing specific moves or sequences, but everyone here has been used for reference or inspiration.

This raptor rider from zabavka workshop (I think, if I'm wrong, let me know) was a gift from a friend and probably one of my favorite painting jobs to date. My first resin mini, and a real example that mini detail quality helps so much with painting it. It stands pretty tall, has a beautiful dynamic pose, and is a highlight of my favorites collection. Even if I paint mainly to supply minis for games, and this one probably won't fit in any game I play, it's still stunning as a display piece.

no one is doing it like the Shi'ar. ancient space bird people empire. they have two evil secret societies (Kin Crimson and the Fraternity of Raptors) watching their back. Had an evil emperor whose sister, the next empress, fucked Prof. X, whose evil sister took them over once. Got taken over by a ceasar roleplayer who swiftly got his ass kicked so bad no one heard of him for nine years. next emperor had a sidejob in a short-lived guardians of the galaxy follow-up group ran by cosmo the telephatic soviet puppy. next empress is Prof. X's teenage daughter, mentored by her mother's other sibling, who had a thing with the ceasar roleplayer.

After witnessing Raptor utter out thirsty thoughts while asleep, how does the Geats cast react when Raptor suddenly utters out thirsty thoughts about Keiwa… and the same time say that Ace and Michinaga do nothing for her.
She’s asleep when she says those things.
(in this case I’m raptor, I’ve seen people simp on Ace and Michinaga separately and at the same time, but they do nothing for me lol, rip)
I think Azuma would be relieved that he isn't being simped on, lol
I think Ace would have, rather unexpectedly, conflicting feelings about it. Obviously he wouldn't really be comfortable over being sexualized, but at the same time his ego would be bruised if someone was compared favorably to him- he does have a reputation to maintain, you know.
As for Keiwa... he's just confused and flustered over being anyone's simping target, the poor innocent tanuki that he is

WIP WEDNESDAY
619th Aquillacan Carabineers, First 2 Troops assembled
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My procrastination on the Aleniheim Angel Shares continues as I have now finally kitbashed the Aquillacan Carabineers into existence.
The only parts missing are the Lasgun Carbines. Imma hafta order 20 on etsy sometime. Then i can just slap them on the Raptors. Once the Superglue dries they'll be ready for Priming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I modeled 2 of the riders to be combination Standard Bearers and Vox Casters. The one with the Pointy hat also pulls Triple Duty as the Company's Regimental Preacher
Tumblr media
I put Macuahuitls on the Sargents and "Lance Corporals" to count as the Power Saber.
The Sargents are holding theirs, and the Lance Corporals have theirs hanging off their saddles.
Tumblr media
The Sargents also have been modeled with Smaller Vox Casters, so they can always stay in contact with their Troop.
So the ones dressed as furries are Jagur and Coyóte Knights. The ones with the vests wearing Aztec Cotton armor. And there's 2 Chads going shirtless. I gave 4 of them Sombreros. Just because.
So lorewise, the furry Knights are "Skulltakers." In Aquillacan culture the Title of Skulltaker is given to Blooded Veteran Warriors. The furs they wear are made from the pelts of Deadly predators, native to the Aquillacan's homeworld of Ørnverden, that the Skulltakers have slain themselves. For the cotton vests, the lore is that they're made of "special silk" from Special Silkworms and the scales of massive reptiles, both native to Ørnverden. The Sombreros are just a popular fashion among the Kanaks of Ørnverden.
Unbeknownst to the Aquillacans, the Special Silk is actually Eldar Wraithbone. As an Exodite Maiden World before Leagues of Votann Conqured it during the Great Crusade, Ørnverden is home to many creatures originally bred by the Eldar as living tools and appliances for their convenience (Think Flintstones). One such creature is a Bonesinger Silkworm that spins threads of pure Wraithbone. This Silkworm was bred by the Exodites to make minor repairs on anything made of Wraithbone, tho most commonly it was used to patch armor. This was not a replacement for proper Eldar Bonesingers. Instead they were basically used for shitty patch jobs to keep stuff going or hold stuff together until it could be taken to a Bonesinger for proper repairs.
When Ethnic Kanak Colonists first pioneered the Jungles and Grasslands Ørnverden, they rediscovered this Bonesinger Silkworm and now use the Wraithbone Threads to weave lightweight Flackjackets that Rival Carapace Armor in protection. They also rediscovered the feral descendants of the Raptors the Exodites had originally domesticated and have tamed them, utilizing them as mounts. Kanak Teenagers steal the eggs from Feral Raptor packs as part of their coming of age ceremony. What they then do with the eggs varies from Tribe to Tribe. Some raise the Hatchling as a favored mount, some make a special omelet, Some feed it to their Grox and then BBQ the Grox, Some sacrifice the eggs at the feet of a statue of the God Emperor. Ect.
The Mountains, Jungles, and Grasslands of Ørnverden are home to many Megafauna. Some massive examples rival Baneblades and Imperial Knights in both size and power. Though exceedingly Rare and Elusive, there is even a few Species of BioTitan native to the planet. These creatures are semi regularly hunted by both the Rual Kanaks and the Savage Ork Tribes. (Mostly the Baneblade size ones, but its not unknown that Knight Level creatures have been felled through considerable efforts, some BioTitan hunts have also been documented, but these are exceedingly rare and infrequent)

Re-reading His Majesty's Dragon and the immediate thing that sticks out to me (besides my brain just flailing DRAGONS like the inner fangirl it is)...
Is how much the English treatment of dragons sucks.
I remember that being something of a slow build the first time I read it. Admittedly, I think that was mostly because that was like, over a decade ago, and I was just a teenager who just wasn't as media literate. It was also partially because of genre convention. For every 'dragon rider' story out there where the dragons and the humans are equal partners in societies where they have the same status, there's probably two others where dragons really are more animal-like, and must be trained like horses or raptors. (Or else, ones where they have human-level sapience but the narrative doesn't see anything wrong in treating them like animals.)
But in this series?
Temeraire comes right out of the egg talking. And not baby talk or anything. Fully formed, thoughtfully constructed sentences. He's young and naive and inquisitive and prideful but from the start he's clearly a person.
Yet what's the first thing he-- and all other English dragons-- receive?
A harness. Or else he might fly away, a wild creature.
Over the first part of the book we learn how:
the average person deeply mistrusts dragons, fearing that even "well trained" ones will lash out and kill humans
joining the dragon corps is considered... well, not a fate worse than death. but certainly not a respectable profession by any means
as such, said dragon riders are pretty firmly cloistered from polite society as much as possible.
all dragons are subject to eugenics breeding program to develop specific skills and traits
the army does everything it can to control who a dragon's handler is. they tell Temeraire truly dreadful lies about Laurence to debase his self-esteem and trick him into accepting another rider... No doubt these tactics are not unusual.
All these passing comments about "no one understands" the intellect of dragons, or how they make decisions, or roll their eyes at the creatures being so headstrong
but they're just
they're just people
and yes this becomes a bigger themes in later books. as we begin seeing other societies and discover that in other cultures dragons are treated as people, sometimes with great social standing...
but man it should be apparent from the start how truly fucked up the British Empire was on this front. (but then, it was the British Empire. So of course)

Petlike Dramillion (httyd) please and thank you? I love these goofy little fellas. Preferable with one that is well trained, kinda like toothless is
I ended up making this a general concept as I did not see the specific while writing it on Docs, I hope you still like it! I haven't actually seen this dragon in action yet so I read the wiki like usual! I can try a more docile and trained Dramillion in the future I guess.
Yandere! Dramillion(s) Concept
Pairing: Pet/Animal-like
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective dragon(s), Clingy behavior, Kidnapping, Possessive behavior, Forced companionship.
Tumblr media
Dramillions are dangerous dragons, especially since they can mimic dragon fire types.
Dramillions are typically pack dragons, too.
These dragons are highly intelligent and social, making them strategic during hunts.
Although, an interesting trait of these dragons is their loyalty.
If they like an individual, usually a pack member, they will protect them at all costs.
They have incredible memory, allowing them to prevent attacks and probably remember the one they are most attached to.
These dragons are fast, strong, and agile physically.
When having a Dramillion obsessed over you, there's a good chance you may win the favor of the whole pack if not just a few individuals.
Another thing is these dragons are aggressive and territorial in order to defend their packs.
That's some info about the dragon I pulled from the wiki and interpreted into the concept.
These dragons are easy to train and can be protective of a rider they adore due to their social nature.
You'll most likely have at least two or three Dramillions attached to you when it comes to their behavior.
But at first… it starts with just one.
Dramillions can trust a human if the human shows they mean no harm and touch them on the nose.
These dragons act as raptors in a way, although are often compared to parrots.
As they like to mimic, even if they probably didn't actually do this, I can see a Dramillion playfully mimicking their human.
Honestly, befriending a Dramillion seems harmless at first.
Maybe you helped them from Dragon Hunters or gave them food.
Either way, you just think you've helped it and don't expect anything from it.
Maybe you could ride them someday… or maybe not at all.
Your thoughts change when the Dramillion you helped brings back food as a gift.
They often look for spots you frequent due to their intelligence before sitting by them
When you do see the Dramillion face to face again they act very friendly and respect you.
You find it nice, they're great dragons.
Then… another one appears alongside the one you befriended, this one a different color.
It's a Dramillion from the same pack as the one you helped.
You're then introduced to this new Dramillion and given another gift of berries, their favorite food….
You find it odd but try not to think much of it.
Then another day there's three Dramillions waiting patiently for you.
This is what I meant by the fact the pack may grow attached to you.
Dramillions are intelligent and social, the one you helped may remember you and tell their pack about you.
As a result you're considered an ally… and their most trusted human.
Instead of having one dragon, you're given at least three.
The original one you saved often rubs up on you, growling lowly to show that they're happy.
The Dramillion you saved no doubt allows you to ride them, too.
The only way you'd get one Dramillion obsessed with you is if you raised just one from an egg.
Other than that, if they're wild you'll get more.
Since these dragons are territorial, I imagine their pack would either settle around your home or they would drag you somewhere else to be cared for by their pack.
Either situation provides you with protection.
Protection you don't really want-
Dragons don't approach you since a pack of Dramillions quickly huddles close to you.
Expect your diet to be primarily berries as that's what they eat.
Due to being social these dragons may huddle up to you for affection.
You'll be trying to rest only for a Dramillion or two to lay by you and place their heads on you.
It would be hard to escape these dragons as they'll swarm you then drag you back to where they want you.
They'd do anything to protect you, they aren't carnivores but can still be deadly.
The moment a human or dragon approaches you… Dramillions spill into the area with hisses and growls.
Dramillions are great protectors and very social… you'd be tempted to try and befriend them.
However, if you do, then expect more than you bargained for.
